Contributed missions

I am no longer accepting missions and I have taken all contributed missions off this site. I have a couple of reasons for taking this step.

The main reason is lack of time, I have ten websites to look after and I am finding it difficult to devote enough attention to them all, so I must find ways of reducing my workload.

The second reason is that I am finding the missions that people send to me vary in quality. Most of them are under-developed and quite a few are first efforts. Others that have been sent in were excellent, but they are few and far between.

The feedback that I have received from people who have played the contributed missions usually say one of two things - a mission needs more work, or a mission is too complicated and causes their computer to 'lag' and is unplayable.

I like to create missions that fall between these extremes. I like to make them challenging to play with environments that are realistic while ensuring that they are playable on the average PC. I will continue to make new missions and add them to this site on a regular basis.

Not accepting contributed missions will reduce the amount of correspondence that is required to deal with all these issues. It will give me time to devote to my other websites and it will give me time to create new missions for this site.

I sincerely thank everyone who has contributed missions in the past and I apologize for having to take them down, I hope you will understand my reasons.

I think I'm hooked...

I've owned this game a couple of weeks now and I can't leave it alone! I've done nothing else except play and make missions. My unanswered email is piling up, my other web sites are feeling neglected and so are my family. My wife has given up on me as a lost cause, she just shakes her head and rolls her eyes...

The first weekend I was awake 42 hours, last weekend I got to 52 without sleep. It wouldn't have been so bad except I discovered the Mission Editor after the first 24 hours, it just kinda went from there.

I love having the ability to create missions, it expands the game enormously. The built-in missions are great and are a challenge to play (for me as a beginner anyway), but there's no satisfaction like creating and playing one of your own custom missions.

I've been a big fan of another PC game, Transport Tycoon for a long time. It also has a scenario editor where you can create your own games. It's a bit different in that you work on the landscape in TT and you can't really change the vehicles, whereas in C4 you work with vehicles and can change the gameplay to a larger extent. Check out my site Macca's TTD Scenarios if you're interested.
